How to Refund & Return a Product to Inventory

Solution

NOTE: this tutorial is for CASH returns only on Products being inventory tracked in LilYPad.

  1. To refund a Product and return the inventory count, open the sale. You can use the Sale ID located on receipts for the quickest search results then enter it in on the Search page.

  2. Once the sale is open, click on the name of the Product to Edit its Quantity.

  3. Set the Quantity of the Product to a negative amount depending on the Quantity of the Product that the customer is returning.

Example: if the customer is returning 1 Product, set Quantity to -1; if two of the Product is being returned, set Quantity to -2, etc.


  1. Click Pay Now to finish the refund.

  2. Press the Cash payment type and enter 0 in the Cash Received field (since it's a refund you're not putting any cash in the till). 

    NOTE: Optionally, you can place the product name and refund reason in the Sales Notes section.

  3. Select Print Receipt if the customer requires a receipt of the return transaction.
