How to Make a Partial Credit Card Refund

PLEASE NOTE: This method is only for customer with an Integrated Mercury Account!

1. To refund partial payments in a sale, open the sale by clicking Edit on the desired sale from the Search tab (Click HERE and look up Default Sales Tab for more info).
   
   
   
   
2. Once you have selected Edit on the desired sale, you will be brought back to the Sale Tab with the selected sale in view. Select the Discount button.
   
   
   
   
3. Enter in the amount that will be refunded from the payment.
   
   

***NOTE: If the amount that you wish to refund does not show up in the Discount button, go to Admin>Discount Amounts and input the amount required.

4. Once the Discount Amount has been selected, the system will show the Outstanding Balance that new to be returned. There are two options now to complete the refund:
   
   
1. If the sale was paid for with a credit card, you must selected the Issue Refund button and on the Sale Tab under the Payments Made section and input the Outstanding Balance amount.
   
   
2. If the sale was paid for with anything other than a credit card, select the Pay Now button and process the Outstanding Balance like a normal transaction (put the negative amount in the Payment Amount field and enter it into the Cash Received field).
   
   
   

***NOTE: Once you have finished, you can open the Sale (Edit) and see that the refunded amount will be displayed as a negative number.

***ADDITIONAL NOTE: Refunded sales will only be listed under refunded sales when the entire sale is refunded so a partial refund will not appear there.
